Communism

From Wikipedia:

Communism is an ideology that seeks to establish a classless, stateless social organization based on common ownership of the means of production.

The general audience of America has believed that the Communist party and anything related to it are completely evil for some time now. Ever since WWII and the Cold War, the media has led us to that conclusion. Hopefully this will correct that. Communism itself started out with positively aimed motives, and a very ethical philosophy. It tries to get rid of the classes that societies have, with the rich and the poor, which is the main flaw in most countries’ governments. However, the methods that it was carried out in were corrupt. Stalin was willing to sacrifice just about anything to receive more power, killing millions of his own innocent people. I hope that in time America adopts something like this, in the sense that we will rid ourselves of the different classes, as they are causing many problems in the country.

The general audience has been taught that communism was evil before WWII even started…. fyi.

But along with a classless society follows loss of free market, loss of the public’s intervention with politics, and the loss of free will. You would be told when to buy food and how much you would buy. The government would literally control almost every aspect your life according to the basic ‘rules’ of communism.

But honestly, how many people would be happy if everyone were just like them… There would be no distinction, no individuality. What fun would that be? Every one would be the same cause everyone would have the same experiences. No more people to gather ideas from cause their ideas would be just like yours. [if the communism had been going on for long enough that no one remembered what it was like beforehand.]

I guess the point that I’m getting at is that there is a lot more to communism than just a classless society. The definition you found is just a simplified version that doesn’t include in depth details of Communism.

Right. There are many interpretations and applications of Communism. The attempt, although failed, was beneficial. Stalin saw the corrupt and lose in the classes of America and other countries, and tried to eliminate that. It let some people see that people are trying to change the world from its corrupt self, to a near perfect society in some people’s eye. I count the effort given. I don’t necessarily like the change that was brought forth by it, but at least someone tried.

Just because classes do not exist in the new society doesn’t mean that each person is the same. A class if simply how much extra money a person has, how much they spend on their daily necessities, and the overall state of wealth. For instance, teachers are paid very poorly, but are a huge need in America. How just is that? Not at all. I’m not saying that Communism is perfect, but it tries to show us what the aim of a country should be.

However though, the amount of money a person has can change their view of life for the better or worse. Personally, I don’t think the aim of a country is to be monetarily equal. There needs to be that balance. [Just as in Love and Hate] I can’t justify that need…but balance is needed. I believe the aim of a country should be to eliminate homelessness and try to make everyone able to support themselves at least. But not so everyone has the same amount of money to support themselves. Everyone makes their own life….no one is stopping them… [however communism would]

Stalin’s effort was good on his part, just as Hitler’s was [and I admire Hitler, so i'm not crushing your ideas ;) ]

However, all of this is my opinion. You are entitled to yours and I will support it with all of the fiber of my being that cares. Maybe someday you will rule a country with all of your communistic ideas.

It is misleading and patently false to claim that communism is a classless form of government. It has consistently failed because it is based on exploitation and a rationale for slavery. Anyone who has read Marx knows that communism is based on the suppession of the rights of individuals as a means of crushing and controlling the majority of the people, so a priveleged elite few could reap the profits for themselves.

Dr. Martin Luther King stated that neither communism or socialism were solutions, because they denied people the right to self determination, without the rights of the individual, there was no freedom.

In some optimists’ eyes, communism is an attempt to break away from the classes with which most countries have to deal. But, yes, communism is mostly a corrupt and “evil” solution.

you say that stallin was trying to rid flwas and corruption; however, what he was doing was just creating a stonger government to increase the size of the soiviet unions army. beliving in no classes seems a little weird, persay, the reason you go to college, other than to learn things you are interested in is to get a degree and then get a job based of of your learned knowledge. if we just went to school and places to learn then we could stretch it out through our whole lives, not have more than half of it to work or please youself. sure if we all got paind the same it doesnt mean that we would have to do the same thing, but part of doing some of the college and the 10, 12 years it takes for some majors is because of the favorable wages recived. is it fair that the 12 year harvard graduate is makeing the same amount of money as the high school drop out janitor? we work to get money and earn money to spend it on things we want and need, the seperation of classes from rich, middle and poor makes everyday life. having all one middle class if you will would also make certain jobs today pointles because we all make the same amount of money, we buy the same thing, we do the same stuff, so why would we need certain businesses to day. if you want communisim, fine get power, run your own countrry, but if you want no differense in “class” all the same, think about that and try to visualize how your everyday life (as well as others) would change, some or most drasticly.

Most the people in a country are not in the higher classes, where college or secondary education would be an option. The majority of the population are people that work unskilled, laboring jobs, or don’t have a job at all. They’re not doing much for the country.
