Dvorak Keyboard Layout

So today I decided to try somethimg new: The Dvorak keyboard layout. It’s like learning how to type all over again. These four sentences are taking me about three minutes to complete. Four, now. The funny part is that I rearranged the letters on my keybard, and the home keys are apparently built differently than the rest of them, forcing me to turn them sideways. Not to mention that the different layers have different heights, making the keyboard very umeven.

But even as I’m typing this paragraph I’m going faster!  I’ll write some more once I get going faster.

Yay! I believe it’s actually better to learn without changing the keys. Because now, I don’t have to look at the keyboard at all. When you don’t have the nice “look down at the keyboard” card to fall back on, it forces you to really learn touch-typing. Besides, sometimes your computer will decide to change back to QWERTY on you, and when you don’t remember QWERTY and your keys are laid out in Dvorak, you’re pretty much screwed. You’ll find (at least I did) that you will love Dvorak and HATE QWERTY. Anyway, best of luck to you.

Thanks! And yeah, I noticed that XP does make that occassional switch back to QWERTY. When I don’t have my modified keyboard, I try to practice without it, using the normal one, but the punctuation is the hardest for me =P.

I used to switch the keys around, now I just leave them as QWERTY. I don’t look anyways. What I would really like is all blank keys. I use dvassist to switch the OS keyboard layout http://sourceforge.net/projects/dvassist It works great especially if anyone else uses your computer.

I wish I had a Mac that I could use that with… =[ Once I save up enough money, I'm getting one =].

The only real problem I have with leaving the keys in QWERTY is that I don’t quite know where the punctuation keys and shortcut keys are now… but i guess that’ll come in time. =]

    Yo!
    Did you know that…
Subwoofer refers to either a woofer, or a complete loudspeaker dedicated to the reproduction of
bass audio frequencies, typically from 150 Hz down to 20 Hz.
    boston g5 subwoofer
In the case of a rotary woofer, it is
possible to reproduce frequencies down to 1 Hz.
    Thanks
